Spyderco Positron Overview

Hmmm...this is a weird knife.  Seeing it in video form is important because photos don't accurately convey just how fat this little blade is.  Its not a bad knife, not by any means, but it is also not as good as it could have been or as good as the competition.

As such, here is the video:

Review coming on Saturday.

  1. I love the way this knife looks and feels and flips. And with that steel, it'll cut nicely too. The example I handled had none of the issues in the CF handles, but I'd imagine with that machining it'll be a bit of a gamble with this knife.

But my big and deal-breaking problem with this knife, after lusting after it for a while, is... the Spyderco Mantra. After handling them both, and if I am spending $200 on a Spyderco flipper, it's the Mantra hands down. I think the Positron is a very good knife, but it doesn't compete properly at the price point with other Spyderco knives as well as the other flippers you mentioned in the video. How good is Spyderco that they can put out a knife like this that's very good but still fall so short because they release something else better?

That said, I'd love to know what you think about the Mantra in comparison to this and the Gemini/TRE.

    1. I'm with patrick. The no-hole mantra is a better comparison to the Gemini/Tre.
