Filip De Coene Large Friction Folder Overview

This is undoubtedly one of the weirdest knives in my collection.  It is also one of the coolest.  From the great form factor and clever offset pivot to the amazing suminagashi steel, there is a lot going on despite the simple look.  Here is the overview:

  1. Tony, What an interesting knife. I have been an admirer of Filip's work for years now and it's a treat to get an up close and personal look at one of his knives. I look forward to the full review.

  4. This looks like a refined svord, something I would consider picking up.
I looked up the makers website, which has wonderful pictures....but no links to a shop or pricing.
I may be missing something obvious, in which case I apologize for the question, but where can I see pricing for what he makes?

  5. After your article on the de Coene you had before, I went thru the process (took almost a year...) to get a small hybrid from him. I love the knife, but haven't carried it much- too nice to look at... Ndrwcn: for me, his pricing model was "how much would you pay?" I stated what I thought was reasonable based on Tony's article, and Filip agreed. Just short of $300 delivered for mine, when all was said and done. Pricey, but awesome.
