Aeon Sign Ups

So here is how this will work.  Enrique has given me more information about the lights, specifications and everything.  He also also indicated how many orders we need and by when.

The light will be very similar to the Titanium Aeon with two differences:

1.  A neutral XP-E emitter will be standard (Enrique corrected me, the XR-E is what he used to get the insane runtimes, not the XP-G).

2.  The light will be a three stage, instead of two stage twisty.  The old "low" around 30 lumens will now be the medium and the new mode will be a moonlight low of around .25 lumens.

We need 74 people to sign up (75 really, but if this is a go, I am getting one).  We have one month.  If we have sufficient interest in one month, Enrique will take deposits and names for the Aeon Final Editions.  He has gauged the price to be roughly $100 more than the normal Ti Aeons so between $300 and $400.  The increased cost comes from two things--more labor and different parts for the third stage of the twisty and a smaller run.

I am not going make anything on this and all of the real work will be done by Enrique, including the payment and ordering.  This is just a place to gather names to show interest.

  1. I would love one or even two but the price is high. if he would also consider making a final edition of the basic model i would get two.

  11. Being that the most expensive light I have is right around $70, it kills my pocket book to say I want one of these, but I can't not get it. And I can't believe I'm agreeing to $3xx for a light that isn't a mcgizmo (no offense to Enrique).

    Count me in.

  13. If I didn't have a Ti 44dd on the way I would totally be in on this.
With the moonlight mode it should be PERFECT!

  17. The only problem is wait time if this light actually comes into fruition. If I am going to set aside $400 or so odd dollars, I want to make darn sure that I have an ETA for this light. That's fine with $100 deposit and then the rest at completion, but this maker as well as a few others sometimes suddenly fall off the radar (just read the forums) for a while, with us waiting on pins-and-needles. If I am going to spend McGizmo type $$, I better have a firm commitment from the maker. This is coming from someone that owns (3) of these lights and adores them! This is similar to how the maker of the 40DD does it and the people had to put all of the $$ upfront. They were told that the light was going to be dispatched in April...well it's the middle of June and they still haven't been dispatched. Not trying to rock the boat, but 1st time custom light purchasers should just be aware of the purchase commitment and sometimes excessive wait times that they may encounter with this project. Many makers experience problems with their Vendors including mill work, emitters, etc...VERY, VERY nice tiny light though! These lights since the are 'FINAL EDITIONS' need (3) trit spots!

    1. Anonymous's comments are not just wrong, they are misleading as well.

Enrique did not "fall off the radar". His site, www.muyshondt.com has been continuously accessible for over three years. Additionally, even before I was writing this site, he never went longer than a few days between email responses.

Excessive wait time is not a fair characterization. Other than McGizmo, pretty much EVERY custom light maker will require a waiting period. I was one of the people waiting for the initial 40DD shipments after they were delayed twice. Given the tech involved and the small scale production, delays are not uncommon, but they were never excessive.

That said, I got my Aeon within a week of ordering it, though it was through one of Enrique's retailers. The big issue with these custom items is quality and sometimes that requires going beyond an initial ship date. I am not saying that will happen here, I have no idea, but it does happen and I for one am willing to wait for a perfect product over receiving a half-assed product on time. As long as the maker keeps up the line of communication, I am fine with delays.

One of the problems that people see when they deal with custom lights is that Lummi has really peed in the pool and ruined the experience for many people. But buying from Enrique, in my experience, is an entirely different thing from buying from Lummi (Rob). I have done both and Rob's deceptions were just short of criminal. Enrique is not like that and look around for confirmation of that. Word gets around so if anyone got ripped off, especially of $400, you'd know with a quick google search.

You would do well to qualify your comments with an actual name, and also not post your assumptions or accusations as fact without anything to back it up.

I decidedly do not "fall off the radar" in the middle of projects as you so suggested, nor have I left anyone "waiting on pins and needles". I have never done so, and I have been making flashlights for eight years. My track record, and my products, speak for themselves, and moreover, what other people do with how they run their projects has nothing to do with me in the slightest.

If you do not feel comfortable with the terms of purchasing the light when those terms are made known (and they haven't been), you are welcome to purchase on the secondary market.

For the record, the last model of flashlight that I released was given a timeline of three months and delivered early.

    Regards,

    Enrique
